Meet NYSP K-9 Scotty
K-9 Scotty is a highly decorated Belgian Malinois working with the New York State Police (Troop F). Handled by Trooper John R. Henriksen, he specializes in narcotics detection, tracking, and patrol, and is well-known for high-profile operations such as a major traffic stop on I-87 where he helped seize 322 grams of cocaine.
K-9 Scotty is named after Trooper Scott P. Enser
Trooper Scott Enser died as the result of cancer that he developed following his assignment to the search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks.
Trooper Enser had served with the New York State Police for 20 years. He is survived by his father, mother, three sisters, and five brothers.
TOWN OF ULSTER, NY — A K9 named “Scotty” helped make a drug bust on a Hudson Valley highway, according to troopers.
The New York State Police say that on June 2, around 6 p.m., troopers from Kingston pulled over a 2010 Infiniti traveling north on I-87, near Exit 19, in the town of Ulster.
Troopers interviewed the driver and only occupant, identified as 35-year-old Peter A. Fabregas, of Yonkers.
An exterior search was conducted by K9 Scotty, who alerted troopers to the presence of illegal substances inside the Infiniti.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of an estimated 322 grams of cocaine.
